"Winter's Night"

Art Works of Iron Mountain, invites the public to join area artists in celebrating these cold winter nights, by viewing the “Winter’s Night” display in the front gallery from January 1st through January 26. Many new pieces have arrived for this month including, “Evening”, watercolor painting by Julia Calkins; “Winter Night” sewn calendar cover and “Wisdom Snowy Owl” fabric soft sculpture by Tina Carlson; “Trees and Moonlight” colored pencil work by Melisse Carr; “Celebration” and “Something Nostalgic” metal sculptures by Brian Game; “Full Moon Night” acrylic painting and ”Snowwomen and Snowmen” mixed media sculptures by Joan Game; “Winter Therapy Dolls” soft sculptures by Margaret Gerhard; “Winter Wind” silk scarf and “Aurora Borealis” fabric pin by Sue Huotari; “Let it Snow” ceramic wall pocket and “Night Ice” wall hanging by Karen Larson; wooden candleholder by Audrey Smith and “Night Watch”, “Northern Night”, and “Owl’s Night Out” all acrylic paintings by Gail Stanek.

On Thursday, January 15th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, the celebration hits its peak when the “32 and Below” show begins. During this time, the public is invited to bring in winter night themed poems for impromptu poetry reading and viewing of specially created items priced at $32 and below. Hot chocolate and “Two Leaves and a Bud” specialty tea sold at Art Works will be served.

Art Works is the area’s only local gallery that is owned and operated by area artists and is located at 111 North Stephenson Ave., Iron Mountain, adjacent to Rocconi’s Ace Hardware (former location of Simone Insurance). Art Works is open Monday, Wednesday-Friday from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm; Saturdays 10:30 am – 5 pm and Sundays, 10:30 am – 2 pm. Art Works can be reached by calling 906-774-1540.

Come on in...

it's warm inside! Old man winter is blowing in quickly. We have so much to be thankful for and our gallery is certainly on that list! Be mindful of the small things that bring us happiness.
