Art Works Gallery welcomes Joanne Simpson













Come meet Joanne Simpson, view her latest work, and browse the gallery where color is the theme this month on Thursday, July 16th from 5:30-7:30pm.

Joanne Simpson was born, raised and educated in Montana where she obtained a MA from the University of Montana. She has taught Spanish in public and private schools in Montana and Michigan for 39 years and watercolor classes since 1985. Her art career began in 1984 when she won an award in the first juried show of the Montana Watercolor Society. Since then she has received many awards including Best of Show at Art For All in Iron Mountain, MI, the Madeline Dolly Weaver Award for Watercolor and Excellence Awards in the Copper County Gallery Exhibition in Houghton, MI, and finalist in the highly competitive biannual show of Art and Flowers at the Detroit Institute of the Arts. Her work on silk appeared in the 1997 spring collection of Detroit designer, Sharone. She is currently the President of the Sandpiper Gallery, a non-profit membership gallery.
