“MIGRATING INTO SPRING”

A Celebration of Birds in Art.

Art Works is celebrating spring and the arrival of migratory birds with a new exhibit. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 9th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The exhibit titled “Migrating Into Spring”, will include bird art comprised of original contemporary works by 14 painters and sculptors from the area. Featured will be the creative watercolors and drawings of Melisse Carr, whimsical birds by Joan Game, functional fiber art by Tina Carlson, wood sculptures and paintings by Gail Stanek and much more.

The fun will include a bird trivia contest, and a drawing. The drawing prize will be a red-breasted nuthatch wood carving created by Gail Stanek who specializes in “bird art”. Gail’s work is displayed in private collections throughout the US, in the book “Woodcarving” by John Hillyer, and in the Indiana State Museum. She has won numerous awards in regional, national and international art competitions including the prestigious World Championship Bird Carving Competition in Ocean City, MD.

Entries for the drawing will be collected through the weekend and the drawing will be held on Saturday April 11th at 3pm. The exhibit, “Migrating Into Spring”, will be on display through the month of April.

Throughout the centuries birds have been the subject of folklore and art alike. Whether you like art, birds or both this exhibit is bound to be of interest to you.
